dali/duchamp exhibition
The Lobster & Eye decorations and stickers were designed exclusively for the Salvador Dali Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in London running throughout A/W 2017.
The dark base fabric of the lobster was chosen to reference the black telephone in the original piece. Coral threads and iridescent cut beads were selected to represent the hard shell of the lobster as well as the shiny smooth surface of the telephone.
The weeping eye is a prominent design throughout Dali’s work and as it represents a lucky amulet in many cultures it was the obvious commercial design choice. We have used a mixture of chain crystals, faux micro pearls, coloured beads, and larger iridescent crystal stones to create intricate yet delicate detailing.
